The Story

This was a very special commission that I completed just before Christmas 2019.

The client had been married for 25years, but she had waited all this time to find an engagement ring that she liked. In 2019 she happened to be visiting my studio with a friend, where she fell in love with my work, particularly my Paraiba tourmaline three stone rings.

I am not sure if the 'something old' rule applies to engagement rings, but in this case the central diamond used in this ring had been stored away since the 1930s by the client's grandfather-in-law.

My diamond dealers and I were fascinated by the provenance of it, and it also proved a bit of a challenge extracting the diamond!

When the client came to pick up her finished ring, she was absolutely overcome with emotion, as she was so pleased with the result. It is moments like this one that make my job so rewarding, it was a joy to create something so special, that will be treasured for years to come.

The photos below show the diamond hermetically sealed in its plastic casement, and the ring on its happy recipient's finger.
